Directed by Werner Herzog, The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Online is a film with leading role by Nicolas Cage. The film began its shooting in July 2008 in Louisiana, around South Mississippi and some scenes at Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis. The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans was released in November 2009. The film is based on the elements from Abel Ferrara’s film Bad Lieutenant (1992 release) that featured a corrupt cop (Harvey Keitel), a drug addict accepting bribes in terms of sexual favors.

The main character in this film is Terrence McDonagh who is a New Orleans Police sergeant who is a good cop in the beginning. A cop is honored by a medal and promotion to lieutenant for his heroism proved during natural calamity –Hurricane Katrina. During this catastrophic event, McDonagh gets injured on his back and then becomes addicted to pain killers. He then struggles with prescription medicines and finds himself involved with drug dealer named Big Fate who is surmised with murder of African immigrant family.

The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans was first announced in the month of May 2008 with Nicolas Cage to lead and Werner Herzog to direct. William Finkelstein, a TV writer penned down its script. Nevertheless, the major change from the original film was the entire setup was shifted from NYC to New Orleans. “It only has a corrupt policeman as the central character and that’s about it”, said Werner who insisted that the film is not simply a remake.

At the Academy Awards in 2009, Werner said that he had never seen Ferrara’s film and hence, the film has nothing to do with him. And, there should not be any comparison as well. He also stated “I can live with it; I have no problem with it at all. The title is probably a mistake, but so be it” while commenting on battling against the title of the film.

You can watch The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans online but do not be fooled into thinking that this is a complete remake. It’s just far from this fact as stated by his director. Watching online movie is very easy and you just need to follow the instructions given there. It is quite difficult to spare the time and reach cinema hall at their specified time. You can watch it online as per your convenience and preferred ambience.
