I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. the motor has just been overhauled.The wiring harness was removed from the?
transmision and connected back. Now I am getting some codes off of it.The codes r :
753. (1) shift solinoid A , intermition 712 (2) Fluid temp sensor circit low – input. 1763 (3) Governor Presure sensor voltage to high. ( Didn’t know a pick-up had a governor on them.) Several months ago the A & B solinoid was changed out. These r the ones under the valve body. I have tried to find a manual on the transmission, but no parts dept. in our town has one. Can anyone advise me on what needs to be done to correct this problem.
The first thing you need to do is go to the fuse box in the engine compartment. Go to fuse M which is a ten amp fuse. This supplies voltage to the transmission relay. If this fuse is good make sure you are getting power to the fuse.
The next thing you are going to need to to is go to the transmission harness at the transmission. There is a red wire coming into the harness. You are going to want to have 12V going to that wire when the relay is closed. This should be at 12Volts with the engine running. This is the power supply from the transmission relay which controls the solenoid assembly in the transmission. While you are at the same connector, you want to find an orange wire. You want 5 volts going to this wire. This is PCM voltage and should be there when the engine is running.
If you have both of those voltages, then you are going to have to painstakingly do a circuit check between the harness and the PCM to make sure you have no open circuits. However, I don’t think you do because it would be highly unlikely you would lose 3 circuits unless the harness got pinched during the engine repair.
If you have the 12Volt and 5 volt references I was talking about earlier, and you are certain the wires have good continuity between the connector and the PCM, then you know for sure the problem is within the solenoid body itself.
